Ditto's different animations for signature moves aren't a bug, they're a feature to show that Ditto's transformation skills are imperfect.

These are the same animations programmed for when any other Pokémon uses the move, not just Ditto. Whilst Ditto is the only Pokémon you’ll likely see using it this Gen, they likely just programmed easier animations for other Mons and transformed ditto is still recognised as ‘another Pokémon’

No. The only canon flaws in Ditto's transformations are its inability to get details right based on memory (not a problem in this case) and that it can't stay transformed when laughing.
The dex also says that each Ditto has its own individual weaknesses, which also doesn't explain a universal inability to copy signature moves perfectly.

Only Mew's transformations are flawless. It's very common for Ditto and Zorua's transformations to be depicted as retaining their dotted eyes and tail.

Zorua's disguise is superficial. It doesn't actually change its cell structure.
And Duplica's Ditto in the anime was mentally disabled, very clearly stated to be an exception rather than the rule, and got over its retardation at the end of the episode.
The Ditto face thing ended up catching on, but it wasn't an original part of Ditto's lore and has never appeared in the games.

When you play the slots at the Game Corner in DPP, sometimes a Clefairy will pop out of the pokeball on the bottom screen to help you out. Sometimes the Clefairy will even be shiny, but other times it'll be a Ditto transformed into a Clefairy which you can spot because of the eyes. I wish I could find a picture not for ants, but this is the best I can get for some reason. So yeah, it has appeared in the games.

Unlike Ditto, Zorua/Zoroark can actually talk while transformed into humans. Seems to be more than a simple disguise. It's just that they can't use the moves of the Pokemon they transformed into.

Calyrex making an actual ice lance while Ditto only makes some energy that's vaguely shaped like a lance seems pretty intentional though

Same deal with Dragapult. The Dreepy that Dragapult launches are separate entities, while Ditto is just one Pokemon, so the "Dreepy" are part of its body (though this would be better represented by a Ditto transformed into Dragapult not having any Dreepy at all)

Ditto isn't Zacian, so it can't use Zacian's signature move perfectly

They made different animations for other Pokemon in case these signature moves get distributed to other Pokemon in the future

Yeah, that is intentional

Like has been said, these animations aren't exclusively for Ditto, they're for any Pokemon that isn't the "original" user

I.E. If Incineroar uses Pyro Ball, it'll just throw a fireball

Incorrect. Silver's Dex entry for example literally states it's transformation abilities to be perfect when it isn't laughing and no game prior makes mention of many weaknesses. It's RS onwards that introduced transforming from memory to get details wrong and SM onwards where the Anime's individual cases of Ditto's transforming wrong became a thing in the game canon.
It's another case of the Anime influencing the rest of the franchise as it tends to do.

Don't zoroark and copycat mons use the same animations too? Also it's nice that they're using their own lore but it doesn't excuse it from looking bad and/or unfinished in moat cases.

If they truly wanted to showcase ditto's lore, why not make it so that ditto's transformation has a chace (say, 10%) to replace the facial features of the copied pokemon with the classic ditto face. Would be a cute detail, and reference both the anime and those ditto plushies that got popular some years ago. If they can do 2 billion spindas surely slapping a ditto face on a different model shouldn't be too hard.

You do know that there is a default generic animation for all moves right? The game is detecting that it is Ditto that is using the move, not Dragapult or Glastrier, so it is using the generic animation instead. You can also see the generic animations in all 3D games if you use Metronome or a Smeargle.

no, only a handful of them have it, mainly the signature moves

also making two animations for some moves is the opposite of laziness. They didn't have to make Pyroball look as good as it did for when Cinderace uses it and they could have just stuck with the single worse looking generic animation.

Misunderstanding. The animation Ditto uses here as Dragapult is the default Special attack animation for its species. The signature moves in these games run checks to make sure the specific animation is applicable to the species. So when Zacian uses Behemoth Blade, it uses its special Behemoth Blade animation. If the move is hacked onto a different species without an animation mapped to that move, the game defaults to that species' physical attack animation, to prevent crashes. Ditto fails the species check, since even after transforming it's still a Ditto. This is an accidental byproduct of them not testing edge cases.
