Every fucking time, the whole purpose of a videogame is making things harder as you progress, if you are working on a difficulty hack you should make sure the later parts of the game are the hard ones, it doesnt matter if your early gyms can be beaten more easily than the rest. Its a pokemon game, you cant just add a fully evolved team that abuses items and special effects when the player may still be using shit like double kick nidorino

I generally prefer ROMhacks to be a few notches more difficult than the vanilla games, maybe with some legitimately challenging post-game content. I really don't want to have to put together competition-worthy teams just to complete a campaign, although I definitely respect the work that was put into Radical Red. If you're into that sort of thing, I imagine this is basically as good as it gets at the moment.

I mean, it certainly doesn't look like the sort of lazy Kaizo hack that just throws a constant stream of bullshit at you. I can tell that some real thought was put into it.

This would be the best Pokemon game of all time if it wasn't limited to Kanto.
Gen 3 hacks nowdays can have huge maps, so it's not technically impossible. Cramming all that content and systems into Kanto is just suffocating.
