I've always found it weird how physical attackers have the disadvantage of getting burned and their majority contact-based moves falling prey to abilities like Static while special attackers have none of this. How did Game Freak balance special attackers with this?

Before Gen 4 you had to deal with weak coverage moves like ice or fire punch or low accuracy moves like blizzard, also a lot of special attackers just had smaller movepools. of course with power creep they do retarded shit like creating Mega Gengar and Spectrier with Special Moxie and then tell you to deal with the fact that their Shadow Ball can only be blocked with a Dark or Normal type.

Special attackers are probably just supposed to be better than physical attackers like bug was intended to be weak and dragon is supposed to be good. Most mons tend to learn physical attacks first and then more special attacks as they level up, including starters.

special attackers get fucked by limited movesets.

Think of all the physical attackers who get the standard moves like
>earthquake
>rock slide
>crunch
>brick break
>x-scissor
>aerial ace
>etc
Meanwhile, most special attackers barely ever get anything more than than STAB and hidden power (RIP). There are exceptions of pokemon with wide special movepools (pseudolegendaries, dragons, nidos, aggron for some reason) but it's much less common than physical attackers getting wide movepools

I loved doing Battlespot in Gen6 with my Mega Banette. Prankster Attract prevented them from doing anything first turn 50% of the time. Then Confuse Ray for another check for 50% to hit. Thunder Wave to basically lock them out.

Then if they didnt forfeit i would use Phantom Force to hit through protect and bypass accuracy checks.

Chansey's physical bulk isn't that bad.
Yeah, 5 Def is terrible, but 250 HP and an Eviolite make up for it.
