Those are just good for flashy mass destruction and explosions. Telekinesis is way more efficient for actual combat encounters, you can just instakill someone with a telekinetic neck snap or mind crush. If you set someone on fire or shoot lightning at them, you have to wait for them to die from burning or electrocution, and sometimes they may even be able to save themselves from that. Also I don't know who Professor X is

They didn't remove Steel's resistance to Dark (and Ghost) to "correct" an illogical choice. They did it to nerf Steel because it was the premier defensive type and to balance out Steel being SE on the new Fairy type. It was a purely mechanical change.

I like that in concept, however Psychic types tend to be the primary Trick Room setters, and Fake Out is one of the predominant ways to stop Trick Room (very few Pokemon can live through FO and attack turn one, and then a double attack turn two). If there was a way they could make it immunity to just proc flinches from Rock Slide that would be fine.
