Remember how they had a team making LGPE, while also making SS? Yeah, they've had a team working on Gen IX for '22, just like they always start the next New Gen pair in the final months of finishing making the soon-to-be-current new Gen pair. Legends getting started when SS got its engine signed off on isn't anything new in the world of Pokémon, it's how Casa Game Freak worked on remakes in the past, only this time they decided to do an alternative time period while doing so.

Calm down. GameFreak has always had two games in development at a time, this is nothing new at all. Gen 9 is in development and probably has been since 2019. I fully expect Gen 9 to arrive in 2023 at the latest, maybe even holiday 2022 at the earliest. I assume their original intention was to release Legends: Arceus in 2021 and Gen 9 in 2022, but development didn’t go as smoothly as planned due to covid and sheer project size. Now that Legends is coming in the first half of 2022 instead, it might even be possible to get Gen 9 in the first half of 2023. Quit fucking whining about things that haven’t even happened yet.

Legends is going to use Pro boosts where it can anon. The fact Anounma guaranteed new BotW2 info later in the year (likely during E3 with other big news) along with Reggie saying they don't like talking about games until they're ready to go into pre-release hype after revealing them (cf MP4 and Bayo 3 both announced in 2017, both vaporware as far as news aside from Nintendo saying they'd scrapped and re-started MP4 a while back) and every insider claiming BotW2 will be the flagship for the Pro like BotW was for the Switch means it's launching between holiday '21 and end of spring '22. Just not sure if they're going to release on its 5 year anniversary, or if they're launching Pro like Switch and having several own-label games to promote the unit for the first couple months after launch.
This of course has no bearing on the Gen IX team who are working away to get the new game to hook the next generation of children into the ecosystem, because as you rightly noted, they've been at work since 2019, before SS launched as they have a 3 year schedule regardless to get the next game made and launched.

Right. I highly doubt it'll happen, but it would be crazy cool if they managed to make Gen IX a launch-window title for the Switch's successor. Signs point to the true Switch successor (not the Pro, which is likely coming 2nd half of 2021) probably coming in Holiday 2023. I'd hate to see yet another generation (like 5 or 7) stuck on the old console for a few years before finally making the jump mid-console life.

Highly doubt it. Legends: Arceus has already been confirmed to be releasing in the first half of 2022 and they've already said it's a mainline/GameFreak game. There's 0% chance that they'll squeeze in Gen IX in the same year. Earliest we can see Gen IX is the first half of 2023, one year after Legends: Arceus releases.

Unless they fundamentally change the ethos of the games, you're never going to get a satisfactory spin-off as you see it, because they don't care about you as a market, you'll buy it anyway, so why scare off the normies who may not be as drone as you to buy every piece of tat with "Pokémon" on the box.
Or you could just accept you're a tertiary concern and get over the fact the kid's series doesn't care about autistic overgrown children, just actual ones, because they have pester power more powerful than neetbux can match.

If you want to play a completed version of sword and shield you best have a copy of the complete edition with the dlc on cart, because otherwise you are stuck with a less than half finished game.
