We sure do talk a lot about Pokemon but no one here really talks about the officially endorsed competitive meta.

How is it treating you so far? Any Legendaries you prefer over the other? Or you just spamming Zacian? Maybe share a team?

I found out something vital the other day when it comes to VGC. I really don't like it. Teambuilding is hard as I can never figure out how much to invest in when it comes to Speed, HP, and Defenses. You can really only viably use about 1/3rd of the Restricted Pokemon and Regieleki speed control is really annoying considering the fact that it's usually paired up with Kyrogre so that even if you have a Ground type, you're getting Water Spouted anyways. This also goes for Tornadus too, but with Tailwind instead of Electoweb.
I liked the early game 2020 restrictions and pre-DLC restrictions, but the following metas were absolutely painful and there are really horrible disparities from Pokemon to Pokemon which make teambuilding not fun.

It's so stupid too because I like conpetitive things and I want to play in events like Players Cups and regionals when they start happening again but VGC is just a drag to prepare and train for.

I'm really liking Series 8. I've been having luck with Lunala. It's at that perfect speed tier where you can either boost its speed to outspeed things, or run it on trick room to underspeed. As long as you have a safe switch for Ghost and Dark moves, it's basically invincible too.

I feel there are too many variables to think about with damage (stat drops, boosts everywhere, GMax DOT dmg) that investing in bulk is a nightmare to work with

Prepping for PC4, unfortunately I imagine people will just default to the same Zacian+Sun, VenuDon, ShadowRex teams like in PC3 since the format changes next month anyways.

The problem is people dont want to share or talk about shit outside of their own closed communities since there is money on the line, and no one does „casual” competitive VGC in my experience.

This is what I miss the most. VGC shifting to an actual circuit meant that the meta is constantly shifting and as such information is at a new premium compared to the days when you had a handful of events a year. There also isn't a real community like there was even 5 years ago, so it really does benefit you to just stay in small Discord groups to discuss strategy with other players of your level. That's just one of the many factors creating a high barrier to entry for this.

That being said I'm going to try to get back into VGC again after not playing since right before the coof destroyed our lives.

Being a Sinnoh-native early game mon really scuppered its chances at having usable stats. If it came from Gen 5/6 it'd be a bit better, if it came from Gen 7 it'd be nearly too good at its job and if it came from Gen 2 it'd have a low BST but it'd at least have sunk all those stats into defenses. The only way it could be worse is if it came from Gen 3, where it'd have the same stats as Cacturne or something.

Incineroar wasn't nearly as bad until all the other guys came back in Crown Tundra, at that point he was just too good not to use. There's plenty of stuff that can deal with Incineroar, but none of them can deal with the other guys who returned in Tundra. The SWSH meta was at its best during Isle of Armor.

Both are wall breakers and momentum gatherers with U-Turn and their signature moves in Singles.

Waterfu is seen paired with Coalossal a lot in VGC so it's a proccer but can also clean up. Darkfu just clicks Wicked Blow.
