>>46745072Maybe "efficiently" was the wrong word to use in that context, but my point was that every place in Johto seemed worthwhile. Every city had a purpose, every route had something, every dungeon was worth exploring.
Compared this to Hoeen. I love Hoeen and think that as a whole, it's more exciting to explore than Johto mainly because of all the different environments. However, there were some absolutely pointless places like the Scorched Slab and Alternating Cave which are literally pointless corridors. The diving sections were cool but most didn't offer much except for the ones leading to Sootipolis and the Aqua Hideouts. There are also SOME water sections that I felt a bit along even though it fits with the region but those get a pass since the interplay between water/land is kind of a big part of the game.
The only place in Johto that feels under-utilized is the Ruins of Alph, but even then the puzzles, Unknown, Smeargle and Natu at least gave that place something.
