The fact is Ash's team slots are generally eaten up by starters and the regional bird and more unusual Pokemon generally wind up on one of his companion's teams, Iris was the one with a Dragonite, for example. Saying there's a mandate against Ash's teams when his current team is probably the "safest" one out of all of them is lunacy. The only reason he has Dragonite and not Zard is because Leon is already flaunting one.
Really the only unique thing this version of Ash's team has going on is Dracovish and that there are no starters, and even then its because Go's Cinderace is hogging the spotlight hard. Its hard to find praise for Ash having fully evolved Pokemon when half of his team is blatant marketing for Pokemon that have been getting merch for over a decade now.
