People like Emerald, literally nobody prefers RS to it, they're obsolete games much like DP are. DP at least has a niche for being a bit less linear than Platinum, but RS have no niche.

The game wasn't made for autists with a profound knowledge of the game and knew which Pokemon were in each route with their specific spawn rate. The point of the day/night cycle is for people playing at different times to have a different experience with different Pokemon. Pokemon being different depending on area and time of day breathes life into the game.

That's kind of the point though, isn't it? Almost every game works like that, and I can only think of a few exceptions (HGSS, Sun/Moon)

The day/night cycle is only good for the aesthetic (which wouldn't work well on the GBA) and as a mechanic in gen 2 it's a nuisance. Last time I played crystal I wanted to add an ekans to my team but after wasting time trying to find one I finally realized they don't appear at night, so I had to ditch that because when you progress through the game further you're not going to want to backtrack and get a pokemon at such a low level when you've leveled up much more.

I'll give you this, but it made some sense because of their roles in the stories.

As opposed to a barebones boss rush based off of copy and pasting the last region in so that the new region would feel even smaller just to shoehorn extra badges into the game?

I never understood why people hate the games so much for not having it, it’s only really a meaningful inclusion in gens 2,4 and 7, otherwise it might as well not exist. Fact is while it adds to immersion, I can’t say I actually miss it in gen 3

That’s true but the separation between the story and the post game is arbitrary, what matters is that completing all the content the game has to offer ends up feeling like a complete game.
I just played gen 2 and 3 (best gens btw) back to back and while gen 2 has way more post game, the games felt like they had the same amount of total play time/content. And they did, took me about 28 hours to complete GS, and about 31 hours to complete RS.

I'd get it if they let you find nocturnal pokemon sleeping during the day, sort of like how you could find sleeping Noctowl if you headbutt a tree during daytime on a broader scale in gen 2, but having them be totally unavailable until night is somehow more nonsensical than the alternative.
16 badges was shit because everything in Kanto was under leveled.

I do agree they should make both box legends available in each game again but that's not a gen 3 specific problem at this point.
