Should Pokemon remove the male character option and just have a customisable female be the default? Everyone just plays as the girl anyway.

Gen 6 onwards has character customization so obviously I will choose the boy. I prefer Dawn being Rowan's assistant and Lucas and Barry having a rivalry, even though I like Dawn's character design more than Lucas'. Hilda has a much more interesting character design than Hilbert, but I don't like Black and White anyway.

Red is just too iconic. Leaf wasn't even canon until Gen 3, as cute as she is she's not really popular
Gen 2
Gold is probably better known but Kris is way more soulful. This is where the Pokegirls start taking over.
Gen 3
I'd say Brendan was quite popular, equal in popularity to May. But now that his hair is actually brown and not white he's a shit character. May is better.
Gen 4
Now this is where the boys fall into obscurity. Dawn is iconic, Lucas is a literal nobody character
Gen 5
Rosa/Hilda.
Gen 6
Serena
Gen 7
...Chickenchan totally dominates Gen 7
