The leader of the villain team of Kalos.
Ex-champion of the League, he was dethroned by that bitch Diantha when the aberration that is the Fairy type came along with the mega stones. He seeks to give the kings of Pokémon their rightful place once again by recalibrating the ultimate weapon to exterminate the fairy magic from the surface of the world.
He manages to do it, erase the fairy type from the planet, then conquer the League and replace every members with his team admins.

He uses dragons but also counters to fairies like poison and steel types he trained before erasing the fairy type.

When you defeat him he gives you the key to the ultimate weapon and you have the choice to bring back the fairy type or not.

I don't know if this fits as a Champion, but anyways.

- All Pokémon learn Tri Attack
- Each Pokémon represents an 'arm' of the modern military configuration, save Togetic who is really more a throwback to Holy Wars/Crusaders or an abstract representation of some future war.

You could hotswap Togetic for someone else (Silvally?) but Togetic has always seemed 'angelic' to me.

The idea is you'd fight this guy and each time he'd have a new set of Pokémon to represent his promotion within the military and/or transfer to another department. This would be his final team on promotion to Marshal (and thus commander of all branches of the military, with his previous aces from each team assembling the final team, plus Togetic)

The selected ace for each branch is obviously going to be up for debate but again, the point is they can learn Tri Attack

Dugtrio - army
Starmie - navy
Dodrio - air force
Porygon2 - intelligence/counterintelligence
Magneton - cyber warfare
Togetic - ???

I decided to make a real Alolan champion, since in SM the protagonist takes that role and Kukui/Hau are only challengers. I wanted to make the team cover the whole of Alola.
Araquanid and Kommo-o are both totems, thus representing the island challenge. The Alolan forms represent the unique environment of the region, as well as a reference to the SM protag originating from Kanto. Xurkitree represents the Ultra Beasts and Ultra Space more generally.
The ace is Kommo-o, since it's the regional pseudo. I feel like it got shafted by being a totem and thus having no opportunity to show off its signature Z-move. The team also fulfils my autism by having no overlapping types and a balance of physical and special attackers.
Theme is the SM Title Defense theme, since I'm trying to stay authentic.
