>>46756600You can portray bite without it being edgy. The Squirtle/Charmander fight was entirely going for the "zomg! i cant believe my cute pokemonz battle would get THIS violent!" angle, aka edgy. It wouldn't have been as bad if they expanded on the idea of battles being really dangerous for the Pokemon or something, but the fact that it's treated as a one off thing then thrown away means it was literally just there for the shock value for the sake of being EDGY and DIFFERENT.
