I mean, here you are, arguing over a kid's carton caracter and inserting your own delusions into it, rather than applying occam's razor to the whole thing, realising Ash is the mentor of sorts (travelled through multiple regions, entered multiple regional Leagues, becoming a Champion in his own right) to Goh (the kid who didn't want any pokémon but Mew as starter initially) and what is it, chloe, (only watch it subbed, TPCi's cringe as fuck with their VA's), the girl who initially rebelled at the thoughts of owning a pokémon, due to her dad being a Professor and everyone expecting her to be like her dad in contrast to her wishes to be allowed to find her own way (it even was used as a plot-point in the Eevee episode, her only taking it on, due to it also being unsure as to what it wanted to evolve into, as she described its resistance to the radiation of evolution stones, guarantee it evolves into either a Sylveon by the end, or a new Eeveelution, if they're going to introduce one).
