Arbok is actually a great card, and I hate that that gyarados is getting spammed, it's one of the more simpler yet equally clever card arts for the pokemon of any of the sets but I know it's just because it looks cool

Asking this in a second and last time for some different opinions before buying any packs.
What are good sets for larger quantities of pulls? The tldr of why is that my terminally ill brother just got i to pokemon and all he cares about is the “WOOOOO THAT CARD IS SO COOL WOW WHAT A COOL CARD” part of the opening. I’m looking for sets that have a lot of those types of pulls, I’m assuming that the pulls would be worth less, but he has no clue about that kinda stuff. Any ideas? Last time I was recommended Hidden Fates. So far I’ve only had good pulls from champions path, and even then it was a pretty low value rainbow card. Thanks in advance for answers.

He’s eight and has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. My family just found out that the women have been carriers for generations but have only had two male children (women can only carry it) that showed symptoms. I do not. The thing is that the pulls don’t need to be worth a lot, just frequent. I’d rather they be somewhat affordable, since money has been really tight with my family since after his diagnosis and treatments.

its spot on desu, even Base Set Zard has no rarity reason to be as inflated as it is, sure its a busted card back in its day, but as far as base set goes the numerically rarer holos go for 1/20 the price... because they aren't the magic fire lizard.
The same is true for almost every other Zard:Set in existence

You could pick up this card back when it was being released for about 16 bucks. now goes for 300. you could pick up a Champions path Charizard on opening week for 3000. now goes for 300. both are valued at the same price. there are some people with a 284 dollar profit. and some people with a 2700 deficit. there are so many exceptions i could point out where other cards fetch a better value than a charizard card. but for me to sit here and point out examples all day isnt worth my time to prove a point.
i stand by what i said. its too broad of a statement to be an absolute.

alright PSA rant here. my dumbass had some <10$ cards stored in a few binders. one was hard-cover ring with detachable pages. the other was an ultra-pro premium soft cover with stitched pages and side-load pockets. I had both laying on their side. guess what happened? the stitch page warped my cards cause it has a natural bend, and when you store the binder on its side the cards get pressed down into it. so moral of the story guys, if you have stitch page binders store them vertically, although I havent tested that out yet, maybe I should just not use stitch page altogether I think I'm sticking to cheap ring binders from now on they keep the cards flat which is the most important feature.

picture related, although I didn't use the straps (cause I was worried bout bending haha, little did I know it wouldn't matter!) I did have it on the side like this (without any other binders, literally just the weight of itself bent the cards).

The ultra pro "pro" series are cheap crap. I have a premium and pro binder and the premium one is different w/ the pages being much clearer. And I know the pro series isn't a chink knock off being peddled on amazon because I compared to one at a department store and they're the same (unless they got unofficial product themselves). Ultra pro premium is a solid choice but spendy and there's other brands too but most brands will source from the same chink factories so hard to tell which is the best without just buying them all.

This is the 3x3 binder I bought after Amazon sent me the wrong thing, it doesn’t open flat unless you force it down or there is enough weight on the left side of the cover, I think the three thick lines on the inside part of the spine are meant to make it stiffer which is why it doesn’t open flat, the 3x4 binder doesn’t have these lines on the inside part of the spine and that one opens flat

Japanese cards are better than American cards. This is not a weeb opinion, it is an incontrovertible fact. When I see that hideous banana yellow border that is off center 99 times out of 100 I want to vomit and slay the beast who did this. If you buy American cards then you are part of the problem. You are, with your dollars, sending them the message that you do not care about the product you are buying. You are telling them they can half ass things for 25 goddamn years straight and that they don't need to be better. But maybe that's right. Maybe they are doing just fine. Yes, they know you will spend thousands of dollars to pull that Shiny Charizard, and then thousands more to pull one that's actually worth grading. It's all a scam and you're the mark. Maybe it is YOU who needs to be better, anon. But me? I will have my nice smooth Japanese cards. Yes, they may not be worth quite as much, but what they lack in value they more than make up for in spirit. That is the spirit of the cards, anon. That is what you will NEVER understand.

For me I think it was back when I collected Yu-Gi-Oh cards. A rule you learn from that is that if someone has a japanese card in their deck, it is almost always counterfit. ESPECIALLY if it’s a rare car. So now in pokemon, jap text to me is just an instant “card is fake” feeling.
