What is Porygon actually based on in the Pokemon universe? Is it based on an actual Pokemon that exists or once existed in the Pokemon world? Or is it like a Pokemon to the Pokemon world (aka a fictional creature that whoever programmed it designed it)?

Looks a bit duck like.
It's like a generic furry artist, where everything looks vaguely doglike, no features specific to any breed or whatever, or when someone draws their approximation of dinosaurs. Nothing specific, just an abstraction of an animal

I think Porygon2 would be a more accurate representation of what they were trying to convey.

It still doesn't look like any other Pokemon though
