For Venusaur, I mean if you have a strong enough fire move, you can one shot him in the sun, or if it's not sun, you can outspeed him and hit him anyway for a 2HKO or something. Your first mons on the field should be really strong or really disruptive. And Charizard and Blastoise are just lol.
Of course this is a strong strategy, but it's not like there's no counter-play at all.
