Ranger was solid but I'm not particularly torn up there was only 3 games in the series. Guardian Signs felt pretty stale and I'm not sure where else they could've gone from there gameplay wise without diluting the core of the experience.

They were decent games but you can really see the focus on the trainers and dogshit story over the Pokémon and the world around start to take hold.

The Gen 6 games are some of the most replayable because tue large pokedex and low difficulty mean you can use just about anything in your team. It's great for experimentation. Gen 7 also works, but those are harder.

All of this in Kanto alone.
I'm not saying this just to hate on Kanto. I am saying this to demonstrate that every generation has it's hits and misses. So no, Unova didn't start no decline. And neither did Hoenn for that matter. There is no decline

Looking exclusively at pomemon designs Galar isn't that bad. It has fewer offensivley bad/useless pokemon than Johto at least.
