I'm not a Genwunner but I actually like Kantoooooooooo's progression. Assuming you're playing through the game like most kids by the time you get to Celadon you'll have
>The Snorlaxes blocking the two routes
>Marowak blocking the top of Pokemon tower
>These guards blocking off Saffron
>The ability to cross water being teased but not given to you yet
It's fun exploring to find the ways to remove these organic obstacles and peeling them back one by one until the whole world is open to you. Much better than Gen 8 where the heckin wholesome Wooloo are blocking the road and you have to come back later or whatever.

Yeah I'm playing Pokemon Red right now and it's not hard at all, it's just shitty and inconvenient at times but with how braindead the ai is, you could beat it with a team of shitmons. Hell, when I played it back in middle school I took a Beedrill to the elite 4 and it was carrying my team with pin missile critical hits.

Hey I'm actually playing Pokemon Blue myself. Using a Mr. Mime and a Pidgeotto and am having no issue difficulty wise. It's annoying how only certain stores sell Antitodes but now that I have Fly, it's no longer an issue of course.

Unironically the random dancers roadblack was funny and I didn't mind it. I'm pretty sure they were just blocking off postgame content anyway, right? Haven't played BW in a while. What I do remember from gen 5 is that most HMs weren't required for progress which is based.
