It definitely could've used some more stuff to do, although I don't think they were as sparse as some people in this thread are making them out to be. An extra dungeon or two with high-level Pokemon (like actual dungeons leading to Ho-Oh and Lugia instead of just going up/down an empty tower), maybe a couple bonus bosses, and a more satisfying finale than the Team Rocket warehouse would've done the trick. Oh, and actually do something with the fucking Unown ruins.
Of course I'd have loved an entire post-game region full of optional side quests and cleverly hidden secrets, but the Sevii Islands didn't really miss the mark by that much. I think they're just disappointing because, while there's stuff to do there, none of it actually comes to a very satisfying conclusion.
