>>46803943Very simple, although you might know it already: the Natdex cut did it. Before release, everyone was hyped to see more about SwSh, but when the Natdex cut was told, it was obviously not well recieved at all. From then, people started to find more perks about the game, specially on the graphics department, as the cut of Pokémon was attributed to "improvement of the animations", which basically went downspiral finding rescalations of textures and even reusing of animations and Pokémon models.
Since then, quite some people really held a hatred towards the games as... well the devs basically lied about the graphics' quality improvement for cutting the Pokémon off. My best guess is that the deadline put for GF was not enough to add or polished everything they wanted, so they needed to lie and try to decorate the situation a bit, albeit not effectively enough. I personally still like these games a ton, got the DLCs and invested almost 990 hours for shiny hunting too much, but it's undeniable that the lies and, above all else, the National dex cut, made these games the hype that they had at the startup, which is sad.
TLDR: Natdex got cut possibly for time constraints, and GF lied about the graphics being improved due to that, when they reused animations, models and even textures, thus killing the hype.
