I'm pretty sure only the superautists & kids watch the show even if its perennial, I think cutting ash out like people want would come off like a stunt, people will be interested as flavor of the month and then drop right back off, probably losing a lot of the autists who stuck through.
What they should have done was smoothly transition with origins & generations alongside the main anime, which is what I thought they were doing along with experimenting with the ash continuity & artstyle with the ho-oh movie & SM. now after detective pikachu, mewtwo remake, twilight wings, & journeys, I'm pretty sure they're just throwing things at the wall. if something like origins was planned to be longer lived and was actually good, ash would probably be dead already.
