Meganium was intentionally set up to fail by Masuda because he wanted Venusaur to look better in comparsion. Venus sure is one of the most useful Pokémon both in game and in PvP so of course everyone loves it.

Meganium has no movepool and basically no ability, but the fact that it has any fans at all proves that it’s superior. It would literally ascend to godhood if it became useable in competitive.

That would be good or an ability that acts like leftovers. Then you can stack leftovers on top of that + leech seed + something like Giga Drain and basically make the thing a damage sponge.
