Common Pokémon you've somehow never used in a playthrough.
For me, it's this guy. Whenever it's available I always seem to have a water type on my team. Doesn't help I usually go with the water starters.
Never actually used the Pidgey line for a playthrough either.

I think Golduck applies to all of us. Literally in every regional Pokédex but I don’t see anyone actually use it

Nah I've used it a few times. It's not bad actually, Psyduck is absolute garbage though.

Still more worth using than Seaking, which is nearly as obtainable, and I've actually used that too.

For me, Basculin is pretty common in Unova's water segments, but I've never used it. I've used fucking Alomomola (pretty legit in a no healing items in battle nuzlocke actually, plus I had a defense increasing nature and Wish), but not Basculin.

I used it once as a kid, playing Blue. The water pokemon that I didn't use until I made a deliberate decision to do so was Tentacruel. Its just about the last water type you get access to in those games, and its common as sin so you wonder why bother.
Turns out it had an amazing special stat, which made it really great actually.
Come to think, the only Water type I don't think I ever used in Red/Blue was Seaking. Can't ever remember using it. I *think* I used both Dewgong and Seadra at one point but I am not anywhere near certain.

This. I remember trying to use it back in Platinum, thinking it would be easy to train since I caught it right before Oreburgh but I had to drop it since it kept dying to everything while doing minimal damage.

I've used Basculin and it is actually decent due to getting high base power moves at early levels, but it gets powercrept hard towards the end, like most single stage Pokémon.

Sucks shit in the first 3 gens and comes pretty late. Pearl and Diamond and Platinum again its late.

It does not exist early enough in all games.

I think a ton of water mons fit the bill here. It's just such a common type and theres so many choices that a lot of mons get overlooked.

Lapras. It's almost always available, but late enough inti the game that I either get attached to whatever water type I already have or get bored and play a different game before I catch it.

I used Golduck in my Pokémon pearl playthrough and it was a surprisingly solid Pokémon for the whole playthrough. alright attacking stats on both ends, amazing move pool, can learn a good amount of HMs.
Ended up using Golduck in different games due to how well he preformed in pearl. Don't sleep on Golduck.
