Ever notice how gimmickmons are either absolute shit competitively (or at least shit at utilizing their gimmick), or amazing in their role?
It seems like there's no gimmickmons that are just mediocre.

I mean that's the whole point of having a gimmick isn't it? If the gimmick is good, then the mon is good and the same is true of the inverse. I would think that mons that have a gimmick and are good without or in spite of it are the outliers, not mons that are mediocre.

Yeah it does.
The fanfic is better than the original, so people want to play it more, and therefore know more about it and can discuss it more. Unless this changes, Smogon will and should be assumed to be the default when competitive Pokemon is brought up, despite not being official.
If you don't like it, go get a job at Gamefreak and make VGC good so people will actually want to play it without needing to be paid.
