Enough with the historical revisionism. Yes, pokemon has never been a great jrpg, but there is a very noticeable drop in quality and effort from gen 6 onwards, even by the franchise's standards.

The battling is the best it's been in a while and there are so many QoL changes that make it easier to get into and lower the barrier to entry. I do wish they'd included all of the Pokémon though and while it was kinda refreshing to not have another "ONLY YOU, A LITERAL CHILD, CAN TAKE DOWN THE EVIL ORGANIZATION AND SAVE THE WORLD" plot I can see why people who prefer a narrative-driven game would be upset.

removing moves, battle features, battle modes, some pokemon and instead you're forced to watch a long ass cutscene every time a pokemon dynamaxes or the dmax pokemon is KO'd despite the timer being measly 20 minutes.

Overall, it's just fine.
