All it needed was Body Press and for Behemoth Bash working of Defense. That was literally all it needed for it to have a niche.
They couldn't even give it King's Shield and Bulk Up or even Roar.

Why did they even make this thing? What purpose does this serve? Why? They cut 29% of Pokemon to save development time and they couldn't take a few minutes to code in Body Press?

Not all... but why must direct counterparts be uneven in that regard? The horses fill different roles but are phenomenal Pokémon by themselves. The same goes for SM/XY legends. The RSE legends too. Not these ones.

Probably because they were designed with a pre-endgame Raid in mind, thus were built defensively and offensively and then kept to those roles for the post-game. I mean, Zam ran support dog in my game at the Eternatus fight along with Hop, almost as if that was its role and function. Shit, they state in the franchise enough a double battle is a balance between attack and defence and the truly best can do both at once, small wonder they made the box legends practice what they preached, the first time you co-operated with them instead of battling them outright to prove your worth.

It only has speed and special attack, its ability is not "okay" its mediocre, it doesnt do anything in most battles. Water is a type most people prefer on tankier sutff, so they can take advantadge of both its offensive and defensive traits. What make the other 2 starters better is having some of the best abilities in the game.
Also, inteleon has boring coverage, its not a weak pokemon overall its just that above NU, you could just use a plethora of special offensive water types that are just more worth it.
>Pelipper is slower but hits harder in rain, has secondary stab, has a much more decent bulk, has recovery, and provides weather and defog support
>Anything with swift swim will be faster and hit harder than rainless inteleon
>Keldeo is slower but hits harder, has secondary stab and has a much better bulk
>Primarina is slower but hits harder, has secondary stab and has a much better bulk and defensive typing
>Volcanion is slower but hits harder, has secondary stab and has a much better bulk and has nice coverage options
>If you really want speed outside of rain, barraskewda and sharpedo are faster physical verions of inteleon

Zacian is literally the most busted mon in the history of the series, and Zamazenta is arguably not even overpowered in a meta where it has the highest BST by a pretty wide margin.
