The mother dies instantly, three of the kids survive but with sever life threatening injuries. After 3 months in a coma, they all make full recoveries besides one who becomes paralyzed. The trauma lasts for years, but eventually they grow past it with two of them being a public speakers for the advocacy of mental health. One day at an event, the brother has to leave early due to an emergency. When the speech is over, the sister goes to her car finding out the tires have been slashed. She walks up to a highway with her Pokémon, leans over the railing and tapes a piece of paper on a sign that crudely reads “Free Ride?”
