Just finished up the third gym in Xenoverse, having a blast going through the game again, this time with the post-game starters.

Sure they are. Also, beat Nuphar. She's still pretty rough. I'm keeping myself below each gym leaders Ace so far.

He's a stupidly powerful fire/ground frog.

The rules of the playthrough are simple. Only use New-Mons, no using mons above the level of the gym leaders ace.

Also, this time through I remembered to double back for Earthquake so Rexquiem basically became the reaper for this town... fitting.

You know? It is. This was after Dhalia, and while some of my team is under levelled, and I'm clearly trying to stay under level 45 (Wallace's top ace is level 45, and I try to remain in the level range of the next gyms Ace) She still damn near took me apart when I was slacking.

Yes, if you stick with the same 6 mons the entire game through, you will demolish it. But I've been enjoying myself here.

Not the guy you talked to, but I'd say Crystal Clear is better if you're really looking for a fun new take on the Johto games. The only thing I didn't like about it was how they changed the elite four, but the original members can still be fought elsewhere in the game, so it's not the worst thing in the world.

prism is the better game imo but it has nothing to do with gen 2 besides using the same style of graphics since it has a new region and uses new mechanics and pokemon
cc is gen 2 but open world

No. The starter you get in the post-game is a set of new mons entirely. There's a mod that has an NPC give them to you in the first city. I wanted to use them in gameplay so I installed that mod.

We're on to Hypelion city. After the beating we took on the train, we now need to prepare for the Sound gym, however, we have Electraburst and Harrowk with Drizzle, so we should be good for it. We also have Scaleon, if we need to rely on a pinch hitter.

One issue with not overlevelling for the gyms, is we run into moments like this. Wallace's highest levelled pokemon is 45. and I still have gym trainers to get through. Also, X pokemon are just brutal to fight without healing items.

Not complaining, I still find them fun, but I wiped on my first run at a sliver of HP

In the post game ? Trishout is on mt starburst past the turt who wouldn't let you jump on it. Shyleon is in the Shyleon Temple. Sulong is in the post game dungeon.

There's no mod to give you all the Legendary starters at the beginning of the game. Only the post-game starter pokemon and Sabolt.

So, beat Wallace Daddy, but now we're entering a complex part of the game. The next two gyms, 7 and 8 are one after the other. And the cap for 7 is 52, 8 is 53. The cap for Wallace Daddy was 46. But there are an assload of trainers between Gym 6 and Gym 7. So there's a good chance of accidentally over levelling pokemon and going above the self-imposed cap.

Gym 7 is Fire, Gym 8 is Steel. So there's plenty to consider.
