I WILL have news for you later in the year", then BotW2 is releasing within a year's time, it's going o be a Pro launch title and just like when Nintnendo launched the Swithc initially, they're looking for after-release support for the new system.
None of that affects the core audience f Pokémon though, they got a kiddy-tier game, they're going to need another kiddy-tier game net christmas to drive the brand, like they've done every year since Ishihara proved he wasn't arsed spending money to drive the brand, let Game freak take a year off.
