When people shitfling over "lazy designs" why is it always Gen 1 & 5? (occasionally whatever the latest generation)

Or at least that's how i view it, because most of gen 2 and 4 aren't very inspired designs either but no one cares, including myself

Because it's usually genwun fags thinking anything other than the first 151 aren't pokemon. The result is kickback from fans of newer gens (typically gen 3 and up) shitting on gen one.

Because gen one (and to a lesser extent, gen 2) has massive nostalgic merit, fans of newer gens sometimes team with genwunners to shit on gens they think is bad.

Because Gen 5 was the peak of normies shitting on Pokemon, and because Gen 5 is often compared to Gen 1 because a good number of Pokemon lines take a base-level inspiration from Kanto's setup (ie. fighting-style duo, elemental equine, item ball mimic, etc.)
So people who like Gen 5 retaliate on the shitflingers by pointing fingers at Kanto Pokemon.

They define the series. They were made in a time where effort is prioritized. Every Pokemon design has a purpose, even if that purpose is “a common creature that can be found everywhere” like Pidgeys and Rattatas.

Like, so many pokemon in here are series staples imo. So many of these I would struggle to imagine pokemon without. I feel like gen 3 is when things begin to become forgettable, or at the very least gen 4.
