Considering Gamefreak's weird obsession to keep some continuity it means the odds of megas being retconned are less than zero. These pokemon just will never be buffed in the form of an evolution which ironically some might need since eviolite could give them new found usage
Ex: Kangaskhan, Pinsir, Mawile, Medicham, Manectric, Camerupt, Bannette, Absol, Glalie, Lopunny, Abomasnow, and Audino
The three stage pokemon megas "helped" basically got cucked out of stat buffs or just helping them past a nuke form
Ex: Beedrill, Ampharos, Aggron, and starters
The sad thing is it's clear to some extent Gamefreak has realized Megas weren't healthy, but now are in a catch 22 when trying remove them since some people fell in love with the idea
