>>46875572Let's be real, there was no way they were "canonising" any the games' plots or characters to the extent of putting them in a movie and no cunt would care for "the Karate kid, but it's a kid learning to be a Trainer instead of how to fight", they'd sit and ree and cry "why isn't it abbout Red, whhaaaa" and tank. Doing it this way allowed them to have a coherent enough story, that didn't require full in-depth knowledge of the series to get into with enough cute fuzzy shit to maybe entice normies who may not have been big Pokémon fans to start looking more closely at it. Shit, my cousin's 5 years younger than me, ignored pokémon completely even though she should have been right in the demographic for it ended up going to see it and enjoying it for what it was.
