>>46875998If you actually think about anything for more than a second Wes clearly has some decent character for a silent protagonist in an rpg. Yes there's a lack of backstory explaining how he got those traits, but there's more than just "was a criminal, blew a thing up and left." Spoilers for OP since they haven't played yet.
Wes starts with two pokemon who both evolved from friendship, he even lets them ride in the side car until Rui tags along and needs the spot, and they're a decent level. Clearly he loves his pokemon and has a strong bond with them as
even being Team Snagem's best snagger as stated later on he only uses those two. In a region with no wild pokemon to catch or train against for himself someone must have given or sold him 2 eevee and they got strong battling other trainers, there's no reason for Snagem to take someone with no battle experience so it's unlikely joining them was the start of his journey and given how many normal trainers in Orre
have unevolved pokemon and relatively low level teams compared to Cipher and Snagem it's even less likely they were already evolved when he got them. He does
rescue Rui and give in to her wanting to tag along and investigate the shadow pokemon after she was kidnapped for noticing one, and works with a group of children so even if he prefers pokemon he doesn't stubbornly hate people. When
the Snagem grunts confront him in Phenac and Rui asks if he's really involved with them say no and she'll catch Wes gritting his teeth so he's a shit liar despite being a former criminal, later when
Megg asks if they're okay after checking out the lab if you say no she'll scold Wes for making her worry. However at the end of the game
when Dash asks if Wes was attacking people if you choose yes he'll 100% believe it despite all the good Wes has done so either he got better at lying or Dash is a retard.
