Gen 5 just feels amazing to those that played it at the time because it was in between the two worst gens in the history of pokemon, compared to gen 4 and 6 anything is great

I totally understand where you're coming from I felt the same way, I dropped it after the 5th gym due to the non stop cutscenes and terrible quality in general

I remember this being the first game that didn't wipe me out (I was like 13 years old and started with platinum) and I was pretty bad at video games so it was staggering when I didn't wipe out once when I played white for the first time

It's a pretty average to below average bundle of games overall compared to most non-Pokemon games. In terms of the series, however, it's great. Not really outstanding though.
