>>46887295>When you put it like that Lysandre has way more motive and backstory than GhetsisYES.
>and the team better written overall than Plasma.No. My post was about how Lysandre is great but everything else about Team Flare is shit.
And honestly, even with Ghetsis not having any backstory or serious motive, I like him more than Lysandre.
Team Plasma, like Rocket, is the opposite of pokemon. They want to separate people and pokemon, they abuse and hurt, and they do it pretending to be righteous. And N is decently sympathetic too, and that's a bonus.
I'd rather take a group of thugs and an evil asshole boss who abuses his pokemon and son, tries to kill the player numerous times and is generally fun, over a guy with a great motive.
Lysandre has a great motive and backstory but he doesn't have a personality. And him being personality-less isn't his personality. Lysandre could be replaced by a robot. Ghetsis is a person. I also like Giovanni for this reason, he's an easily hateable, arrogant asshole.
If Lysandre was half as much of an arrogant ass as Ghetsis and Giovanni he'd probably be my favourite villain. But he doesn't and he isn't. Lysandre's god-complex doesn't make him have any personality.
However, Lysandre doesn't NEED to be an arrogant ass. Just because that's my favourite villain type doesn't mean he has to fit it. If there were more showings of why Lysandre might be right then he'd also be a great, sympathetic villain.
Right now he's a decent villain, with not too much sympathy and a shitty team.
Thanos worked because not only did he have good monologues but he also showed what his homeworld had become after they disagreed with him and how sad it made him.
Lysandre only has the first. He has no evidence of what he hates and as a result he only has speeches to back him and Team Flare up. And that fucks him up.
So TL;DR if what I wanted to see in the post was true then Team Flare would be leagues above Plasma. But they aren't.
