Then why don't they make cool monster designs like Charizard for starters anymore? Intelleon looked like a combination of gex and a raging homosexual with yaoi hands, CInderace is blatant furbait cereal mascot, and Rillaboom is tolerable but literally just a gorilla with hair and a drum. Charizard and Blastoise were popular cause they were cool monsters, but instead of taking what worked and putting a new spin on it, I guess it's easier to just wank at nostalgia by haphazardly shoving the kanto starters and especially CHARIZARD MY FAVORITE POKEMON into every fucking gen until you want to vomit

Charizard was never that cool next to the likes of Greymon, Dragonoid, Blue Eyes, and such. It's a potbellied manlet that jobbed constantly in the anime.
It's weird how much more popular it became

He's more or less Goku, having to achieve a new form in every arc via training or via McGuffin to defeat the bad guys
If Charizard has way too many forms, then drago has an astronomical number of them.
Plus he felled into anthrobait kinda like the starters we have now.
