Starting to find it sad that something like this triggers /padt/ because no matter what they say or do, they hate it when XY is mentioned.

It's basically screaming how to trigger /padt/ at this point.

My only problem with XY is how people call it to be the epic shounen masterpiece when it's the same as the others. The best one so far is SM, now that was fun

That's because XY is the most unanimously hated series in the franchise by both writers and fans. You're just asking for it when you mention and it's characters.

Ash from BW onwards just feels like super weird exaggerations of his character traits. I don’t hate any of them but it messes with the consistent growth from OS, AG, & DP.

Do these series have any continuity?

I only watched 70% of the original show and stopped caring shortly after the third Pokemon movie with the legendary dog Entei or whatever

>DP has the same pretty much but a little less. Ash uses some of his old Pokémon in the Sinnoh League.
>Unova is mostly isolated to reflect the games but later in the series they bring back Charizard for some reason. They have a picture of all of Ash’s Pokémon in the final scene in the Japanese dub. Also characters like Clair and Looker show up.
>XY is pretty notorious for not having any callbacks aside from an indirect one to Dawn’s Piplup. Steven returns but he doesn’t seem to remember Ash.
>SM has callbacks to mainly Kanto like Misty and Brock returning twice, going to Kanto for 2 episodes, and Ash mentions/sees his Tauros & Bulbasaur.
>Journeys whole thing is about references to the past sagas. So far characters like Lance, Korrina, the Alola classmates, Chuck, and soon Iris & Gary have prominent roles.

IMO I think they’re all worth watching to some extent depending on what you want in the anime but if you’re looking for a constant continuous story of Ash, OS-DP.

I think it's consistent up until dp, but near the end of bw Dawn comes back briefly, charizard too, and in one episode Ash remembers caterpie

Not really. They have references and call backs to the OS, but most of the times they have zero relevance to the plot of the series.

Really. If you watched all of the OS, that is all you need since every series up till SM pretty much rehashes a lot of OS tropes. SM and PM break from that, but whether that is good is up to the viewer.

There was also the story arc where they went to the Ghost World to rescue Jigglypuff's soul, so he's alive again. Although I don't think he's appeared in Journies yet.
