So since the board's pretty much dead, let's have some fun. I am extremely discontent with the gen 8 designs and I wanna prove even a bunch of barely functional autists on a mongolian cattle herding forum can do a better job as long as we're passionate about what we do and don't have to follow a tight schedule, so let us have a knack at making our very own roster of fakemon that make up a fictional generation.
Here's some ground rules:
1) we'll go about this methodically, firs't we'll come up with the starters, then the legendary duo/trio, then regional rodents, birds and whatever else makes up a dex
2) I do not intend to make a romhack out of this, this is purely an art project.
3) The pokemon should match the aesthetics, origins and overall design philosophy of earlier gens.
4) this is a democratic endeavor, anyone can bring in whatever ideas they like as long as they're serious and we'll all collectively decide on what to keep and what not.

I haven't worked out the details but I hope it'll crystalize once we get the ball rolling.
