Beyond any lore explanation, I think the actual reason is U-Turn. Which is pretty retarded to hard nerf an entire type for a lower power move that is rarely even used by Pokémon who get STAB from it.

Yes and Dragonbros have nothing to complain about (especially when Bug got shit on by fairies for no reason) . However, I’m mainly referring to a lore perspective.
Pre Gen 6, Dragons were the types associated with power and prestige. However, since Fairy was created Dragons seems to exist solely to be killed by fairies.

Literally nobody even mentioned dragon types you fucking schizo. Also it may have been one of the best types in the game back in gen 5 but that's no longer the case, dragons aren't special. They haven't been since gen 3 when common dragons like Altaria and Flygon hit the scene. Take your meds.

This is one of the best types in the game but most of /vp/ is too low IQ to realize it, they will call me a retard and then will go make a post in another thread complaining that Smogon has a stall bias because they don't ban Toxapex.

Not the other poster but the resistances make the typing. Fighting, fairy, poison, grass, immunity to poison condition and manageable weaknesses (pair with flying, dark, or levitate for example)

People talk about buffing it by making it SE against fairy or whatever, but Ghost should lose the bug resistance. It's one of the few resists where I have absolutely no idea where it comes from.

Unlike G-King It's defenses were nerfed to up Attack. Thing is G-Slowbro has no incentive to use phys moves at all so it is effectively nerfed defensively and with that BST it needed to be efficient with the numbers

1. Scizor didn't git gud until Platinum, when it finally picked up Bullet Punch. In Gen II and III and DP it had Flareon syndrome.
2. Genesect and Pheromosa are pretty unambiguously better than Scizor, as is Volcarona.

Almost any. Clef would be really mediocre if it weren't fairy. But grass just like bug and ice require a lot of extra traits to be good. Either in godlike dual typings like steel, beyond broken abilities like regenerator or the recent gorilla tactics, or in expanded movepool. If it wasn't for gen 6 where they changed resists steel would be indeed the best type bar none because it did too much. Nowadays Steel is amazing if your other typing isn't weak to either dark or ghost because those are very spammable offensive types.
Dragon is also pretty shitty as a typing nowadays due to how prevalent meta fairies are. It was indeed good before gen 6 but now it fits the definition of a jobber really well. Bug on the other hand was weak from the get go and everybody knew that.
Jobber types should be Rock, Psychic and Dragon.

Clefable went from shit tier to arguably the best mon in the game just by becoming Fairy-type.
And certain types like Steel and Flying are huge benefits, giving a fuckton of resistances and immunity to Ground and Ground-based accessories.
Ice, Ground, and Fighting are all amazing STABs to have.
Of course every good mon has other good things going for them than just their type, but some mons are good in part because of their type, and others are good despite their type.
