What are some rules you feel you must adhere to when you play through a Pokemon game?
For me:
>never use items in a trainer battle, ever
>in a main series play through, form a trio of Fire, Water, and Grass Pokemon, similar to how most Rivals do
>the starter is usually part of that trio but not always necessarily
>in ROM hacks, the trio isn't as necessary but at least two of the types should be on the team
>the full team must be formed before the halfway point of the game
>catch Pokemon in Luxury Balls if they're available
>every Pokemon must have a nickname
>Set mode, but animations are on
>in a main series play through, the team must be introduced in that generation
>for that purpose, regional variants are allowed
>trainer ID must end in 5 or 0 for absolutely no particular reason, I just like the look of the number
>in later generations, the once per battle gimmicks are to be avoided
