Now onto how he met all of these guys in this campaign and who they are... There's 17 of these guys so...here we go..

>Petilil: Egg from his mother and father for his 10th birthday. Hatched on the same day. She's a lot like Brent, fun, loves nature, music, and dancing. She recently picked up harmonica. Their relationship is practically identical to a elder brother younger sister familial relationship.

>Shinx: Rescued from a manic Rotom trying to blow up a huge generator on Iron Island. She's very quick to act without thinking, likes inspiring & protecting the weaker folk, and is the most no bullshit person on this team. She grew up in a community (mostly of females) that valued strength and competition beyond everything so she has the standard "I wanna be strongest" goal. Her relationship with Brent is best described as close friends with a strong amount of respect for each other, though she'd like it to be a bit more than just that.

>Ralts: Rescued from a horde of Krickitune tying to kill her. She's the most 'human' Pokemon he's befriended in terms of personality and desires and goals. She's incredibly explorative, loves learning new stuff, and is the helper type. Her relationship with Brent is best described as a couple, despite not officially being one. Also she got her head cut off last session and is currently dead.

>Buneary: Befriended somewhere around Route 205 (simply performed some music and said "I dig your style, want to come with? We got evil to stop."). He's really energetic, has quite the competitive streak, loves flying, and getting drunk at parties. Him and Brent have a very brotherly rivalry, as they challenge each other over everything and anything.

This now Primarina's a bit older (He's in his midlife), but has a great passion for making people happy from his performances, despite him hating to play up the "cute seal" routine. He and Brent have a bandmate style partnership. Brent's been helping him branch out a bit more so he can feel more comfortable performing.

>Butterfree (Umi): After leaving the Great Marsh, Brent wandered the forests a bit and a little Butterfree flew by and crashed into his face. He gave him some food and they became quick friends. Umi's the kid of the group! He's super playful, cheery, and affectionate. Brent's apparently his "Best fwend" but 90% of Brent's team is gunning for that spot and it changes depending on who gives the best hugs.

>Kricketot (Alfred): Met on Route 203, played a duet with the angry little dude and he joined up! He's...strange. Very aggressive and angry, but mellows out hard when he's got music around him or playing in his ears. He works with Brent in the band as a bandmate, usually backup singing.

>Chingling (Darren): Befriended in Mt. Cornet. Played some music for him and they dug each others vibes. He likes attention & music, Brent likes attention & music. That's their thing. They busk a lot when on the move and draw lots of eyes their way.

His favorite past time is bullying Brent, because someone needs to mess with a guy that happy besides Sophia and Chase. Brent doesn't hate him, but he's gotten hit with enough Psywaves to like him the least.

>Machop (Florence): Met in Oreburg Caverns lifting boulders. Brent played some Jojo's Music for her and she tagged along. She's your body builder and overall strong arm type. Similiar to Lucy she has a goal of strength, though physical perfection is more what she cares about than just beating up everybody. Brent and her have that whole trainer/pokemon thing going on. He helps her get stronger and reach her goals as well as he can and she protects him every now and then when someone else isn't around. They also secretly watch Jojo's togther.

>Deerling (Julie): Rescued from a horde of hostile pokemon. She was heavily injured and would have died or slowed the pack she was with down, the party wanted to put her out of her misery, Brent wanted to save her. He calmed her down, bandaged her up, offered to bring her to the nearest Pokemon Center ASAP and if she wanted to come back to her pack Brent would have came back to drop her off. She chose to stay with him instead and make her own pack! She and Brent work together to protect Eterna Forest and their home, so they're simple allies in arms.

>Lotad (Joquin): Met inside Eterna Forest nearby the Old Chateau. Played some music for him and they became dance buds. He likes dancing, that's pretty much his character.

She's the youngest of the group, yet acts more like a spoiled teenager (Brent does spoil her) with a god complex and a strong care for what's left of her family. Her relationship with Brent is that of your typical Father/Daughter family thing.

>Zubat (Michelle): Met in Oroburg Caverns, his Shinx tried to kill her, Brent calmed both of them down and made friends with the Zubat instead. She likes exploring and letting the wind take her wherever it leads. She and Brent just enjoy traveling together, she likes flying so she and Chase get along nicely.

>Shiny Galarian Farfetch'd (Nujabes): Met in the Old Chateau, his Father was a seasoned fighter, but quite old and was going to die soon. He wanted his kids to explore and grow stronger, so his children joined up with us (each party member got one). Quite the pacifist for a swordsman, he doesn't do a lot of fighting despite being very good at it. He took his dad's advice and really enjoys exploring so he and Brent do that a lot.

>Trevenant: This Trevenant is the Guardian Spirit & Protector of Eterna Forest, Brent and the party bested him in combat and Brent captured him. However Brent and Shaymin (The God of Nature/Brent's Patron) best felt it would be safer for the forest for it to stay there. Him and Brent are both whipped by Shaymin, aka their boss, so they're just servants in arms. Trevenant does have a great deal of respect of Brent after their battle, but they don't interact much as Trevenant's not allowed to leave the forest unless its an emergency.

Whew, done.

There's an uncomfortably large amount of FAIRIES in here. I pray that nothing goes badly this time around...

Anyways, here's a picture of Murdoch caught in the throes of a most disastrous predicament at his tabletop setting. While trying to traverse a strange forest alongside a few other humans, they all went unconscious and woke back up looking like Pokémon, much like in the PMD games. While the others seemed not all that bothered by this, he was absolutely LIVID in comparison upon seeing his body. They've yet to solve this little conundrum with regards to why it's happened, but he'll stop at nothing to be rid of this hideous icy body. The reason he looks the way he does instead of a normal Vanillite is actually due to several deep-seated reasons... though I can't reveal those until after he escapes from that nightmare.

2 out of 18 Floors left (Ghost and Psychic) + Arceus Boss fight! Then this over 2 year campaign will finally come to a close. The team's not looking great had to bring in some alternatives, Gardevoir's still dead, but its looking like we might be able to squeeze a victory with these last two floors and get a well deserved rest before the big battle.

I wrote a while back a long drabble about some of Ming-Ming's key Pokemon players, but I can't necessarily copy paste it here 'cause I wrote way, way too much about the small picks I chose.
So I'll just share what I wrote about one of the first Pokemon she's ever formed a kinship with, her ma's Espeon, Bastet!:

'Bastet meanwhile is more like a mascot - Small and cute? Check! Wiser than one may think? Not a requirement, but check! This Espeon believes herself to be a 'divine conduit', a fallen star here to push others to be their best. BUt in reality she's one of Ming-Ming's mom's various kittens. No one knows where her ego comes from...'

Em has two Rotoms, one of which used to belong to her father. When she was a child, her father (a mechanic) was on a job fixing some haywire machinery and discovered the culprits were two Rotom. After repairing the machinery, the owners wanted him to get rid of the Pokemon so he took them home and gave one to Emily, and kept one for himself. They have both helped in the family repair shop for years, and once she got a job with Devon Corp. her father told her to take both of the Rotom with her.

>What's their personality like?
The two behave almost like siblings: one is more playful and mischievous and the other is more calm and powerful (her Dad's).

>What's their relationship/partnership like with your OC?
Emily grew up with them, and they completely trust each other. They might misbehave once in a while, but she is usually the one instigating it anyway.

Emily met Makuhita in Granite Cave while scavenging for metal to use in the shop. It was drawn over by the smell of her snack (fresh donuts) and carried all of her supplies in exchange for the food. It stuck around after seeing all the restaurants and bakeries in town and they've been together since.

A bit of a glutton, but it likes to show off its strength and is more than willing to do the heavy lifting (as long as someone is around to notice!)

>What's their relationship/partnership like with your OC?
Makuhita gets fussy if it hasn't eaten in a while and might wander off to find food, but otherwise is pretty dependable and helpful.

Milotic was found as a Feebas flopping around on Dewford beach. She tried to place it back in the ocean but it kept flopping back out to the sand. After going back and forth about 9 times ("WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH YOU YA DUMB FISH") Emily realized it was flopping towards a Pamtre berry floating in a tide pool. She fed it the berry and tried to put it in the water again, but now it was flopping out after her. This continued for several minutes (and a one-sided shouting match) until she gave up and took Feebas with her. Since it would only eat a few specific berries, she kept feeding it and eventually it evolved into Milotic. ("W-WHAT?!)

>What's their personality like?
Above it all, a little snooty now that it's a beautiful Milotic and doesn't like to get dirty. Not much of a battler, Emily mainly uses it for Surfing around Dewford.

Kind of laid back and uninterested in things not related to itself. Emily keeps some extra berries with her to butter it up when needed.

Nibbler's nature is Naughty, which accurately describes his core personality. He's proud of his power and is a bit of a bully to other pokémon, even other members of Raimie's team. His intentions are never really "bad" so much much as Nibbler just has fun making a mess of things. It also doesn't help that Raimie constantly eggs him on.

They're two-of-a-kind and their bond is unbreakable. Nibbler likes showing off and winning just as much as Raimie does. They encourage eachother's antics and push eachother to new heights. They typically sew chaos wherever they go.

This is Titus, a ten-year-old Pokemon Ranger that likes to kick butt and protect all Pokemon from harm. Despite being a kid, he's very skilled in what he does. For Empoleon and Altaria, he had them ever since he was born. Empoleon was a Piplup back then, and he was the family pet that always asserted himself before others. Altaria's origins started off as a Swablu when she made a nest in a tree in Titus' backyard, and then she just stayed there. She quickly became a friend and then pet of Titus' family. Both of them will become Titus' first two Pokemon.

Sadly, I don't have anything else for the rest of his 'mons, other than he caught them and raised them. I haven't pinned down the 'how'. I also need to come up with names for them considering how the rest of the OCs here name their Pokemon.

Empoleon is the leader of the team. He shows endless optimism and cheeriness and his eagerness to battle just like his trainer. Titus regards him as his closest friend out of his entire team. Not to fill up too much regarding the rest of the team but: Gallade's the stoic and serious duelist, Altaria's the hugger that likes to be friends with everyone, Milotic acts like a protective mom, Dragonite's the Pokemon that loves to fly endlessly, and finally Claydol is mysterious even to Titus. As in Claydol will absolutely stand there doing nothing and hum mysteriously. He willingly takes orders from Titus, but Titus can't figure out who his own Claydol really is.

Absolutely loyal. Titus and his team inspire each other, help each other, and get along with each other.

I mentioned it last thread, but Rosa met her ace as a child on a field trip to Sinnoh. She split off from the group, found a Budew and brought it back to her home in Orre. She eventually grew up, became a coordinator with her now fully evolved Roserade in Sinnoh.

They've been through thick and thin together, all the important wins and losses, and she's pretty much owed her entire career to their partnership.

Gallade's telepathic abilities (I'm gonna assume reading minds if that's what you mean) are limited, but he has frequently read what the Claydol's thinking. Typically and unsurprising to the Gallade, Claydol's usually daydreaming.

Yeah, both of these. Feebas' Dex entry makes it clear that it's a hardy fish that can be found in any kind of water, just like Magikarp. They can also "eat anything", so food supply isn't an issue. It's actually a relatively COMMON kind of fish, insofar as they reproduce consistently, aren't hunted by predators because they look unappetizing, and aren't pursued by most trainers because they're weak. More than anything, they seem to be rare because they hide at the bottom of bodies of water, among weeds. Once found, they're pretty easy to catch, because they're dumb and slow. Knowing that Feebas evolve into Milotic actually seems like somewhat obscure knowledge, in-universe? Or maybe people just know it takes a lot of work, just like Gyarados.

Pokemon kind of doesn't differentiate between salt and sweet water for its marine life. They care more about biomes, and putting water types in appropriate environments more than they do specific bodies of water-- so you'll never find a Bruxish in a swamp. As far as Feebas is concerned, in the games, it is primarily a freshwater fish, found first almost singularly in rivers and ponds, but that gradually expanded. I'd wager Brooklet Hill, which is a series of small ponds leading into a lagoon, is brackish towards the bottom, and the Roaring-Sea Caves of Galar are definitely salt. Considering saline levels and applying environmental considerations to Pokemon distribution can be enjoyable and help flesh out the world, make it seem like more of a real living ecosystem, but as a whole it seems water types are able to sustain themselves regardless of water, if only so that you don't need certain Pokemon to Surf in certain bodies of water.

My guy here is big into fishing, so I read up what little lore there was on it because I wanted to nail down the means by which a Feebas could be caught. It boils down to dumb luck, really, which means someone that fishes consistently will eventually catch one.

I've talked a bit about Orzabal and Curtonix in these threads a little bit already, being a Malamar and a Beheeyem, respectively. Those two showed up in both Murdoch's original and tabletop stories as main characters, though there are more Pokémon on his side in his tabletop scenario.

Pic related is Mengele, a variant of Orbeetle from the Pokémon equivalent region of Germany. There's not much difference to him from a regular Orbeetle other than a different color scheme, though. Unlike Murdoch's robots, Mengele actually answers directly to Orzabal... usually. He is enamored with the wonders of human technology, travelling far and wide to gaze upon and study all he can cram into that chitinous cranium of his. Once he discovered the flying laboratory that Murdoch and his two keepers travel about in, he was dead set on joining them. The Orbeetle met with both Orzabal and Curtonix while they were outside, begging them to allow him inside of the laboratory. The two agreed to let the bug stay with them in the lab under the condition that he would swear fealty to them, and that he helped keep Murdoch safe at all costs, as the human's brain is an integral part of their ultimate goal.

One unique trait that Mengele has apart from the Galarian Orbeetle is that he knows Magic Powder. He uses this powder not only to render beings vulnerable to his Bug-type attacks, but also to inflict various inconveniences upon them, as well. Using the materials and knowledge he gleaned in the lab, he'll take the finished products and put them into vials like the ones you see here. He's learned to have his powder range from things like making make his targets itch uncontrollably, up to (but not limited to) infecting them with the Common Cold.

There wasn't really anything specific that inspired him to get into Pokemon caretaking, professionally. Admittedly, it's fairly popular in his hometown of Solaceon, which has a lot of land with only some of it arable. So it's a lot of farms and agricultural ranches, and a lot of daycares and daycare-style ranches, too (once again, the distinction being that a daycare is literally only during the daytime, while people are at work, and a ranch is fulltime until the Pokemon is called for.) Being from somewhere where it was common, growing up and angling to settle down at a place where ranches were prevalent, may have made the idea stand out more in his mind.

Humbert did the League circuits in Sinnoh, Johto, Kanto, and Hoenn, in that order. Performed adequately in competitions and tournaments all the while. When he got to Hoenn, he had the notion that it'd probably be his last, that it was about time he hang up the hat. He wasn't going to be able to be a trainer professionally-- few can, only the best of the best can get sponsorships and live off their tourney winnings. The Journey is never really supposed to be about being a trainer. It's supposed to be about opening yourself up to new experiences, growing as a person, and figuring out who you are and what you want to be. So, he started thinking long and hard about where his skillset lied, and what his resources were. Someone he was travelling with or talking to at a Contest mentioned that he was a good caretaker or groomer, and that he could do that for a living, and it all just kind of clicked. That yeah, he could do that for a living. He wasn't necessarily the best trainer, but he was good at understanding a Pokemon's emotional and physical needs and meeting them, he was good at teaching Pokemon new moves, and he was good at cooking. His family had land back in Solaceon, which made for a good foothold, and he had enough savings built up to take out a mortgage to buy up some of the surrounding land.

DM's confirmed already that we'll get them back by the end of the dungeon, but if that wasn't possible, we have two Sacred Ashes that can revive the dead. We haven't used them yet, because they might be invaluable for the final fight against Arceus. Arceus has 18 Health Bars and is stronger than every single thing in the game world. The Rider's are free agents. The Pale Rider got pissed that she kept doing so much damage to him and wasn't letting up. So it hard focused on her and on its last health bar (In which it got an extra turn) It got the Critical hit and killed her.

We worked very hard to get this point mind you. Before coming into this Mega Dungeon, each party member had to fight a legendary by themselves without any Pokemon or other Trainers to support them, if you won you earned their blessings. Brent has Shaymin, Shaymin is an entity of Life, Nature, and Rejuvenation, it can revive Haley and Bradly (Sirfetch'd) with a flick of the wrist. We just need to get to the end of this place to rest and call them back.

You can still die, the risk is always there, its just short term at least for now. Long term emotional or psychological damage, however will affect you. In this case, while we can revive these two dead people, once this whole journey is completed I don't quite think we'll be able to revive the dead so casually.

Here's my idea for an oc I've been working on.

I wanna make someone who's an agent like boogeyman who works for the government or a mysterious team. He would still have a pokemon team even though he can handle himself against other people and their pokemon.

The oc's inspiration is from wholesome keanu's neo and john wick characters. I want to make sure he doesn't come off as edgy, but still having a overall badass feel.

This is why I have to explain game mechanics a tiny bit. Pokemon and Humans can faint/are KO'd when they drop to 0 Hit Points. Death is VERY rare in the Tabletop Game I'm playing in, the only reason this Gardevoir and Sirfetch'd are dead is because that Rider had a specific thing that killed them, not KO'd them. The DM wanted it to last longer, the only way to do that was to kill them.

It did so much damage it instantly killed our party's mascot Shadow the Weavile and in the subsequent 1v1 mental fight another Player did against that Mewtwo, the Player lost and their character got their brain turned into a slushy by Mewtwo. Mew forcefully teleported us away before we all died, then revived the two dead folks.

If you want to do "death" without dying, just put them in a severe state, which means they cant be revived with items without propper medical attention that isn't just a bandaide and a bottle of mountain dew in a spray bottle.

I'm not the DM, I can't control what they want to do in their campaign or know their motives. The best guess I can tell you is that death feels more permanent and heavy than just simply saying "They're in critical condition and cannot fight". In PTU that sort of phrase would imply that they're at a number of injuries that would kill them in about 20 seconds if they keep fighting. I also assume that the DM was trying to push our hand to use our revival items early. Imo this would have worked better if he pulled this out earlier in the dungeon or if he killed one of the Human PCs.

It honestly is. Its pretty absurd the level of power wanking the true legendary pokemon have in comparison to regular Pokemon and Humans in this campaign. Legendary & Mythical Pokemon have stats that completely overshadow (hehe) any and all regular Pokemon or Humans (twice as many in fact). They also have access to their entire movepool + tutor + TM list and also have access to these Legendary Aura's that basically make them border on invincible. The DM really wanted these Legendaries to feel "Legendary".

I don't agree at all. I think that having your pokemon be actively out and suffering feels much more impactful than lugging around a corpse. that's just going to be out till you sprinkle magic resurrection magic.

I don't disagree, but there's a difference from seeing loved ones die before you vs them at least being alive. From a in universe stand point my OC is feeling the traumatic effect of lugging around a loved one's headless corpse, it hurts him even though he knows he can fix this, this is going to hurt him for a long time thereafter. Hell, it hurts his Pokemon team to see Gardevoir dead too. They loved her too.
Its not just simple passing thing that doesn't effect the character.

I'll add that this is obviously subjective. I'm not trying to say one is more impactful or not, it just depends a lot on the circumstances and the characters and what not. In this games case, If Haley/Bradly was to just be in an incredible amount of pain, but still alive nothing would stop Brent/Donny from just putting them back in their Pokeball to stop the pain then wait until we get to the end to fully heal them. That's WAY less painful than them dying less than 5 feet away from the players with them being unable to save them despite any promises made. For Haley, death means they can't talk anymore, death means she can't see the rest of this dungeon through together (she even missed a WWII style fight that made Brent cry, because she would have loved to be there for it)... it just feels more final in a way even if its not.

So I did this kind of thing (The whole not being a "trainer") thing with Brent. He was made to just be a simple musician who happened to have pokemon who performed with him, he just happened to get magical Grass and Fairy abilities throughout the game.
So for this OC I think you could have him have a 'team' of Pokemon that come from his work, like hired aides. He himself could have martial arts abilities so he can hand-to-hand Pokemon and Humans alike, while also having some psychic abilities on the side for mind reading, reconnaissance, slowing down bullets in mid air and the like. You could also have him adept in weapons like firearms and knives. When it comes to his teammates, I think it could change depending on the assignment?

And yet you designed him off of John Wick and Neo... That's heresy!! I joke, but maybe find a substitute instead. You also have to realize you're making a hitman, which implies your killing people, that's already pretty not Pokemon. Guns don't have to be as deadly as real life either, in Pokemon humans tank Volt Tackles and Flamethrowers, and Hyper Beams, a gunshot probably shouldn't kill them.

Tarmac is Sharyo's larvitar, as well as her first pokemon that she's ever had despite her being 19. Sharyo was driving around the Cipher Key Lair when eventually she fell into a different laboratory with a lone egg. Albeit in some form of stasis.
Sharyo eventually took the egg home and hatched it and noticed that it had strange traits to say the least, having a greater than average combat and speed prowess, but her defenses were below the average larvitar's as well. Tarmac is incredibly defensive of Sharyo akin to a parent protecting their nest, and always prioritizes her safety. Food and playtime are important to Tarmac however, but if someone with a bad enough aura such as exists near Sharyo, Tarmac is on red alert.

Oi! Neither Orzabal nor Curtonix view him in an even remotely sexual light, and that goes for both of his stories. All of those horrible scenarios he's been recently depicted in... none of the Pokémon that have assailed him belong to him. They aren't affiliated with Orzabal or Curtonix, either. If anything, they're a reminder as to why Murdoch and the rest of M.A.S.S. came to exist in the first place. This monstrous abuse of human dignity is why they and the Pokémon in The Homeland simply cannot peacefully coexist.

The two originally discovered him when they rescued him from [REDACTED]. When they got up close to him, their Psychic capabilities allowed them to discover a strange anomaly in his brain, which is the point where they initially kidnapped him in the first place. After a lengthy process of interrogating him and probing his brain in various ways, they discovered that psionic energy could be channeled into his brain easily. After that, they also found that the energy could be released from his mind in a multitude of ways, making energy-based attacks and mind-altering abilities increase in effectiveness to a massive degree. They did learn that it was somehow tied to something that had happened to him at some point in the past, but not even Curtonix could pinpoint what the exact cause of this was, even with his powerful mastery over memories. This was the foundation of where their takeover of his life from that point forward began its foothold.

They wouldn’t want another Psychic absconding with their precious tool, after all.

They met somewhere around Sinnoh Route 203 (Like really close to Jubilife) Brent & the team rescued her from a horde of 6 or 7 Krickitune when she was trying to get some food. Its one of the only times I know Brent had to capture a Pokemon without asking if they'd like to join first as she was almost heavily injured in that fight. But immediately after he got her healed up in Jubilife and he apologized profusely, offered to release her, she declined, thanked him for saving her, asked about him instead, learned about what he and his team were doing and was like
>"Awesome, I'm coming with you."
And that was it. I think they spent like 2-4 hours that night just talking and learning about one another.

Normally Shaymin doesn't have 'Life', it has 'Trickery' as one of its legendary domain sets as its a fey like entity. My DM chose to change it because he felt the Trickery was weak and he could see a nature spirit like this use Life as a stronger push off of its Rejuvenation powers.

Thoughts on owning mythicals?
Not legendaries like archeus, but things like having a cubfoo. A pokemon that's supposed to be legendary but there are thousands of them and they literally just give them out.

Personally mythicals fall in a similar boat as legends in terms that they demand a legendary story. Mythical entities either set or shatter the tone or direction, but most importantly is if the character and the pokemon have a fun dynamic. It's always disappointing when people seem to fixate on the percieved social status of a mythical/legendary than the story element it brings to the table.

Similarly to how I feel with legendaries - A lot of fine detailing is required.
You got the story behind how the trainer got the legendary, what their relationship is like, how the world views legendaries and if a trainer having said legendary would cause a meta-related issue.
It's all a matter of each individual case. Little Joey probably isn't going to be walking around with Ho-Oh in Johto, but a much more mature Joey probably managed to bond with it, maybe they go on fun adventures after some trials and tribulations they went through.

At the most I'd give one of the minor Legendaries (Articuno/a Regi/Latias or something) to a character who's meant to be an experienced top-tier trainer, and acquiring it would probably a lifetime effort.
I'd never have a character with a major/box legend though, that's just where I'd draw the line

But to answer your question, I think maybe the first time they actually kissed (not like a Draining Kiss or Sweet Kiss sparring thing) and Haley's thoughts wandered and she forgot to turn off the telepathy for a few seconds. So he got hit with something like that picture. So AFAIK once. She and Brent already do everything listed while in private or on a date or something, except for the proposal bit.

Legendary mons are nothing more than legends in the world that the three played their part in, so trying to seek one of those out wouldn't have helped. Sure he became bitter and hateful, but who can really blame him for what the Pokémon there did to both him and his own people? Murdoch himself has no sort of special powers at all outside of his technology, his mind only acts as an enhancer due to something in his body causing the anomaly in his brain. It's also meant to symbolize that despite all of the conflicts going on in that world, humans and Pokémon are at their best when they work together... even though Orzabal and Curtonix had to seize control of his will by force. Because of this, Murdoch believes that the two are on M.A.S.S.'s side, and they've damaged his brain to the point where he can't find the willpower he lost rid himself of them. The true Murdoch would never have condoned theor actions.

Also, Jubilife? How'd Brent get from Sinnoh all the way to fighting the Riders of the Apocalypse? Are they still in Sinnoh?

Mt. Coronet is still in the Sinnoh Region. On the day of the Full Moon, the group climbed up Mt. Coronet, fighting Arceus' hordes of lesser angels (and two Elite Four members) along the way, eventually reached the top thus making it to Spear Pillar. Then at Spear Pillar we had to summon and capture Dialga and Palkia from their respective dimensions using the Red Chain (all the while fending off more hordes of Angels), once that was completed the True Forms of every single Legendary + Mythical Pokemon appeared before us to offer their aid and some advice/opinions on what we were about to undertake. Each one of us had a solo 1v1 mental/spiritual battle against a Legendary/Mythical Pokmeon of our choice to see if two were compatible. Then once this was done, Arceus conjured a beam from the heavens that pulled us into His Domain. This domain is split into 18 different dimensions/worlds, one for each type, each one also representing a different time frame in creation of the universe and the development of the universe.
While in this domain, the Four Riders of Apocalypse showed up midway through, I do not believe they are in any way shape or form associated with Arceus/God, as they have been attacking Arceus' Greater/Divine Angels, so I have no clue what they're doing in here or how they got in.
Fun thing btw, all of this stuff happened in less than 24 hours in game time.

This exact thing is what our team is fighting against! Arceus controls fate and has removed true free will from people and Pokemon alike. Our PCs plan on changing that once the fights over, current plan is to switch it to a democracy rather than a dictatorship. Pokemon also need more freedom too, currently there's a strange imbalance in the relationship between Pokemon Souls and Human Souls that we're also going to adjust as the Legendary + Mythical Pokemon wanted this to be adjusted to be more equal.

I have to thank one of my buddies for part of Ming-Ming's character design - The reason why she's an active fighter was inspired by the fact that in the community I'm in, trainers have their own actions in tabletop-inspired quests. Whether you have a trainer who's a frontline fighter, someone who sets up traps or barriers, it feels so refreshing to have trainers and Pokemon feel relevant and important.
The big thing is that I wanted a character who could both defend themselves and also patch up the team, which (And I know I've rambled about this time and time again), made for a character who ends up being a selfless dame who's food has been the opener of many a new relationship. Whether it's someone dreaming of being the number one trainer, a secretive Silph Co employee and MORE, Ming-Ming's found her way into knowing quite a colorful cast of people. Really takes the stereotype of the informative bartender to a different level, huh?

Ming-Ming's personal themes hover around the synth-pop/funk hemisphere, The Pleasure Principle by Janet Jackson being a primary example of what I'm talking about.

Oh, speaking of Shabao, I should probably do the Topic of the Thread:
Shabao was once part of a swarm of Vibrava, and was the cockiest of them all. They would attack humans and Pokemon, plunder them for their food, you know, the usual antlion pirate routine. When the local townfolk wanted some local trainer help, Ming-Ming was one of many who set out on the task, capturing Shabao in one of her woks. While the rest of the swarm managed to flee to another locale, the crimson Vibrava was stuck being paired with the short chef.
The two girls eventually became friends, Shabao at first wanting to grow strong just to be part of her swarm again, which later became her wanting to be strong because she wanted to be the defacto strongest member of Ming-Ming's team. What this dragon has in spades is her pride - Sassy natured, yet quick to flee, her brashness is balanced with her eagerness to grow stronger. One of the biggest joys in her life was when Ming-Ming and her discovered the Draco Meteor move, Shabao taking to it such as a bird to bread crumbs.
Some say Ming-Ming and Shabao appear almost like sisters, the little chef being the bubbly and chipper one, the tropical dragon having all the sass in the world. Together they strengthen the other, Ming-Ming only being all the more energetic when fighting with Shabao, Shabao knowing Ming-Ming would indulge her whenever she ends up ad-libbing stunts on the fly.

"A lot" is the answer to the first question, "I can't draw" is the answer to the second. I actually do pixel art, but very very occasionally. It started out as me wanting reference material for the characters I create in stories (And I started doing this over a decade ago, when picrews weren't a thing and my dinosaur brain had no idea faceclaiming was a practice)
I do like purchasing commissions however. Supporting my favorite artists, getting content that otherwise might not see the light of day in a visual medium, it's a lot of fun! Otherwise my spending money would probably just collect into my savings.

(Also I'm trying very hard to keep the thread bumped but I'm still trying to think of ways to get other anons to engage oh no what do I do-)

His first pokemon was a hoot hoot that likes to stay up at night so he usually lets him out at night when they set up camp, watchful eye at night. He helped a sawbuck back to health after it injured its a leg with the help of Dahlia when it was still a deerling it was running away from hostile pokemon, attempting to hide in a bush (since that's what it tends to do) Took some time for the deerling to open up, it's pretty calm and nice to people that come up to it and rush on its antlers when it's summer and autumn time. Agreed to come with him after a small battle.

His Milotic was caught with a rod given to him by a gym leader (when it was a Feebas) and it turned out to be a crossbreed with a Sceptile.
She's pretty bold when it comes to certain situations, being careful to not mess up her scales and body. He Sees Dahlia in her a bunch

Brent & his Teammates fought the Dark Type Gym leader of his Region. During this fight the Trainers weren't allowed to fight alongside their mons, so Brent and the other party members were at a very large disadvantage as our PC's are not built for this style of Battling. Brent was the only person out of the party to get his team wiped. I remember the Gym Leader told him "I had to take you out first, you were the biggest threat' and neither I nor Brent believed that but regardless that was a very difficult fight for him considering he technically lost. But because the group won with his support, he got the badge anyways. Brent might not care about this style of battle but Lucy his Luxray does, and losing this was very insulting to her. She's going to want to challenge him again one day.

As of right now, I'd say despite all of what he's going through in this Arceus' Domain, the only reason this is as hard as it is is because its a 18 part boss gauntlet. We can't sleep, we can't train, we can't do a lot of things that we should. As such if we classify this entire place as one continuous battle this would be the hardest thing he's fought. Personally I don't count it as its so different from the standard fights.
As such I'd say the hardest Full Contact fight Brent's ever undergone was a fight against Mesprit's Chosen One. This fight was so absurdly difficult because the boss could inflict so many conditions that would force us to lose turns and luck was not on our side. It got to such a point that the DM Deus Ex Machina'd us to get ONE turn just to try and win, and if we couldn't pull it off in that one turn we would have lost 100%. Nothing's been closer as of this post to a TPK than that.

I wanted to do something specific for Tarmac with the setting of Orre and wanted to incorporate some components of those games, mostly the concept of shadow pokemon and how they have a sort of energy to them and being able to sense/spot these differences (think Rui from Colo). Right before he traveled to Unova at 15 years old, he couldn't bring his current team with. (I incorporate game transfers into lore with the headcanon that gym-challenging trainers have to always start from scratch to make the gym challenge fair so they don't sweep every gym with level 100 pokemon, so they have to wait to a certain point in their league challenge to be able to transfer their pokémon from across regions.) Poll creator here, I find Ming's votes REAL suspicious, considering that she suddenly overtook the last frontrunner with a large amount of back to back votes in a really short amount of time. I think it is harder to relate to characters with incredibly convoluted backstories from non-canon regions with super special OC powers that do the nasty with their monsters. Over the top OCs stand out better than normal characters cause they're 'over the top' and easily recognizable. 'Normal' characters fall flat cause they're too normal. That's the point.

Thanks, pal! I appreciate your appreciation. I don't think Humbert's backstory is particularly sad, all things considered. He lost his dad kind of early, to lung cancer, and that kept him from going on an adventure until a bit later on in life, but overall he hasn't had any considerable trauma. His Houndoom there, she's a rescue dog with some serious emotional problems, she's got all the trauma. The point of that piece was more about loneliness while travelling-- other trainers are good company when you can have them, but that's not all the time, and sometimes you're left walking the routes without anyone to hold a conversation for days or weeks at a time. But even though it's definitely a melancholy atmosphere, I think it's a kind of bittersweet vibe, overall. Even if he's alone, he's got a dog that loves him, a warm fire, and a song on a gorgeous night.

Said it before, I'll say it again. I like this character. I don't care about her origins, the creator, or how much porn exists of her, I like the actual character behind all of that. The whole idea of having a OC who fights side by their mons, actively trains with them, and uses their culinary skills to pave the way for friendships and allies (and supporting the team) is a win in my book.

I'll make it clear, I like trainers who can tussle, so she immediately gets my appreciation. Raimie and Nibbler look like they make a great team. The art here also speaks really well for the character from what I can tell.

I'm curious about this Larvitar here, what happens when it evolves? Can it evolve? No. Anything that happens in the wild stays in the wild. So if a Pokemon gets killed by another wild Pokemon, tough luck but he's been taught not to break up those kinds of fights. Titus is taught to let things that are supposed to happen in the natural environment happen without any intervention.

He'll only intervene if unauthorized trainers or evil criminals do come in.

What if it's a Pokemon not native to the ecosystem, that has no natural predators. Say, a Pyroar, naturally endemic to plains, savannahs, and badlands, finds itself/was brought to a forest, and has started hunting the local Stantler and Gourgeist populations to a point of excess.

How about a scenario where a wild Pokemon is acting in a manic or particularly dangerous state? Like a Wild Rotom that's about to blow up a Power Plant in an urban environment? What would he do then?

Giving a bit of praise to everyone is a welcome act in times like these. The uh... situations that certain monsters tend to draw him in aren't actually canon to HIS story, but there's no telling what type of nightmarish dystopia he exists within in the eyes of his tormentors. I can assure you that I have no power over those who wish harm upon the Dochtor in such a disgraceful fashion! I can't fight it...

That being said, seeing Pokémon doing such horrific things to humans does still play into the subversive setting of The Homeland. Humans are always the bad guys in most stories, while the wild Pokémon are, for the most part, always shown as innocent cinnamon buns that can do no wrong unless forced to. One of many morals from Murdoch's story is that both sides are equally capable of good and evil... and that sometimes acts of good and evil are difficult to tell apart.

I do have to say like how much detail you've put into Brent and Haley's relationship with one another this round. Most people have a habit of treating their Pokémon as extensions of their trainers and their own wants. That's certainly fine and dandy, but I like it best when the Pokémon have agency outside of that. One of the reasons I end up giving Orzabal's living minions so much personality is to help show the stark contrast between them... and the mechanical ones that've been robbed of their will by Murdoch and his science-loving people.

I had really gotten into the contest parts of RSE when I had pretty much beaten them over and over again as the idea came to me to make a character based on the whole coordinator thing. Her brother is the one that's more likely to get into battling, though he's more of a researcher than a fighter.

That will make Titus intervene, at least on that scenario. But it's usually on a case-by-case basis. Usually, Titus won't make a move until he gathers more info about an invasive species from those who know more about it. But if that invasive species, such as that Pyroar, does mess things around in a big way and quickly, Titus is just gonna put that thing down.

Being a fighter, Titus hopes it's the latter. He and his Empoleon love a good fight.

If 'urban environment' you mean in cities and towns, Titus won't bother. That's not his jurisdiction. The police and other law enforcement will do the work unless Titus is specifically ordered to.

And then she'd hug him and the rest of his Pokemon team would join in for a group hug cause they all need one right now.

In a more standard scenario, they'd be talking about their garden, upcoming performance, music, or they'd be some light jabs at one another like brothers and sisters do. Like I think she'd poke fun at him for falling for a Gardevoir (Call him a basic bitch) even though she knows damn well that she been wanting them to get together like two or three months ago and has been pulling some strings to make that happen.
