Which gen has the best exploration and optional areas? Left out nugen because I couldnt remember the areas.

Etc. Feels like there's so many areas one could easily miss out on in a regular playthrough.

Sinnoh definitely, although Hoenn probably has more "unique" landmarks, even on my third playthrough i was still discovering hidden spots and stuff i didn't know about

I like Unova's exploration in both games, Alola also has some fun side areas in USUM like the Ice cave, Water routes, and desert.

They have Pokemon and items in them. If the DLC is empty then every area in every Pokemon game ever is empty.

Backtracking to a route, clicking A in front of an obstacle, and getting a Zinc or Ether most people will never need to use counts as exploration now? Zoomers have low standards.

Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and (DLC) Galar. Sinnoh and Unova (at least in BW1) have dogshit exploration. I think even fucking Alola has more optional areas than Sinnoh does.
