Alakazam is a bipedal cartoon goat holding spoons, Nidoking is a cartoon rabbit rhinoceros kaiju, Mewtwo is a cartoon cat embryo, Machamp is a cartoon bodybuilder with a beak, etc, every single Pokémon is a cartoon something because every single one has a real counterpart, be it an actual living or fossil species, an object, or a mythological creature. The only one i can think of that isn't directly based on anything specific is Eevee because GF said in an interview that they didn't want it to resemble any specific animal, so they made a generic mammal, but even then you can say it's a cartoon general mammalian thing.
