Playing Sword version but haven't gotten to the icey part yet. Is there any Pokemon or plotwise explanation for why the middle is just filled with ice? Doesn't make any sense why a circular area on their earth would randomly be cold.

That still doesn't make sense. Mountains have to be really, really, tall to start icing. The ones on the map actually look lower than the mountains on the bottom of the map.

As a Brit I have mixed feelings about it. It's not what I wanted from a UK region but I like some of the things they did with it like having the gyms be football stadiums. My main complaint is that the Champion's ace is a fucking Charizard. Game Freak have jumped the shark with the Charizard pandering.

No. I can’t put my finger on it, but it just feels small and limited in scope. I felt the same way about Alola, though, so I think it’s Gamefreak’s inability to handle fully 3D worlds. Kalos was better, but that was much more similar to the first 5 gens.
