A friend and I recently had a debate about Pokemon fans owning pets. Her claim was that every truly diehard Pokemon fan on Earth owns a pet unless they can't because of allergies or something. I said that's not true because some diehard Pokemon fans play the series for the RPG/strategy gameplay instead of the monster capturing/raising aspect.

Can anyone confirm? Are there anyone here who plays Pokemon almost every day but doesn't own a pet? If so why?
