There are LITERALLY over a dozen separate starter wars threads on this board right now, so I'm making this one to contain all the autism.
That said, the Hoenn trio are objectively the best designed group of starters in the entire franchise in terms of the love shared between all of them.
>Gen 1 is mostly Charizard fanboys, Venusaur and Blastoise have moderately sized contrarian followings because KANTOOOOOOOO
>Gen 2 is split between Typhlosion and Feraligatr fanboys, nobody likes Meganium
>Gen 4 are all moderately liked but have been left behind as time goes on (we'll see if BDSP helps at all)
>NOBODY likes the Gen 5 starters
>Gen 6 is entirely Greninja fanboys, Braixen has more of a following than Delphox, nobody likes Chesnaught
>Rowlet has more of a following than Decidueye, Incineroar fans are all Barafags and Smashfags, nobody likes Primarina aside from Pokefuckers
>Gen 8 starters are all badly designed garbage who people only like because 2/3 of them are meta in comp, Inteleon gets left in the dust
