It's not. If you every seen SWSH models up close, they tend to be shiny and smoother. Hell, Nessa's swimsuit looks more like bodypaint compared to this.

Masters models don't use as many polygons and I bet Masters Nessa's toes are super blocky compared to her SWSH one.

This kinda really annoys me at the franchise. Give me more exposure of these fucking gymnleaders. We have nearly 100 now and 90% are just bland monotype trainers

The game is made to run on more mobile devices, which doesn't have the same graphical footprint as the Switch.

Your average Mali GPU from any 64-bit phone released in the past 5-6 years needs to be able to run Masters, not just the top shelf ones that are more comparative to Switch's Tegra X1. So yeah, models are reworked.

to be completley honest considering sw/sh slows down and drops frames just from using multiple battle camera renders in battles I'd be more surprised if Masters was optimized even worse than the base game.

Masters ran like shit when it first came out.
Also the areas aren't exactly brimming with wild Pokémon that you can actively traverse. Really comparing apples and oranges.

To date, Gloria is one of the characters with a higher polycount than most trainers in the game and yet there's still less detail than her SWSH model.

I'm not flat out disagreeing, but I wonder just how difficult processing 5-8 models (with the dmax pokemon just being upscaled) with these flat backgrounds are. Maybe the particle effects make or break it, like the dust or aura effects.
