>>46944538All homebrews based on 5e are easy to play in general. And i'm pretty sure this board full of pokefuckers will be pretty confused when playing anything based on 3.5.
I have a on going campaign with a homebrew version of PTU with a huge dex cut because i'm not in the mood to give life to all species. DMing pokemon is really demanding when you're doing it right and it gets even worse when players have a channeler. For me normal pokemon game is kinda boring because it's either too much on the slice of life side of being a trainer or too much in the generic get all badges and become a top dog.
My current game plays more like Isekai that happens to have pokemon than normal pokemon games. Humans aren't useless because I wanted them to be strong when played right. They can't 1v1 a fully evolved mon without strategy but can take on middle forms really well. Most of the pokemon around are primal and very territorial so they have to either avoid or take the risk in battles with surprise factors that are heavily weighted against them. It seems they enjoy it because I reward them enough to keep pushing through and exploring the world without having 50 random encounters per game.
Hopefully you guys who are going to DM like it. It's a wonderful experience but can be tiresome, don't make your plans too big and don't railroad your players too much. Have them explore and be very subtle if you want to progress somewhere. Make it interesting for your players to move to any event instead of just having them moving for no reason. And more importantly, have fun. This is what tabletops are all about.
