>>46946282Being able to trade between versions is a gimmick, by regular video game standards.
>B-b-but it's a GIMMICK!!!Does that mean it's a bad concept? Absolutely not. Neither are contests, secret bases, mega evolutions, following/riding Pokemon, double/triple/rotation battles, character customization, or bonding mechanics-- All gimmicks.
You know what makes these gimmicks different from Z-Moves and Dynamax? The fact they were created as additions to the gameplay formula and not something just to be toted around for one game and then dropped.
>b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-but nobody liked contests or mega evolutions anyway!!!!Not the point. The fact of the matter is that Z-Moves and Dynamax literally cannot function outside of their designated containment regions. They were made with the explicit purpose of being DROPPED. That's the complete opposite of adding anything "interesting" like so many regional gimmick-tards try and claim they were doing.
There is no point to a feature that won't get expanded on. Even if we entertain the idea that Mega Evolutions are somehow in the same vein as the regional gimmicks, they are inherently superior by the virtue of not being delegated to one region for fuckall reasons. They can easily bring back or drop megas at any point-- meanwhile they can't do that at all for Z-Moves and Dynamax because it goes beyond the conception of those mechanics.
You wanna know something that's ACTUALLY a regional gimmick like Z-Moves/Dynamax? Character Customization. It was never meant to leave the Kalos region. It was only after fan outcry that they realized they fucked up by not taking it to ORAS and as a result they scrambled to add it into Sun and Moon (as if Gen 7 wasn't already rushed as fuck after they decided to remove gyms at the last minute and replace them with trials...)
Look, you can keep coping. It doesn't change the facts.
