All high-power moves (Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Zap Cannon, Thunder, Hurricane, etc.) are guaranteed to hit your opponent the first time they’re used, but their accuracy reduces back to minimum afterwards, similar to protect in a way. However, the accuracy reduction isn’t reset by using another move, and will only be reset after switching out.
Ex. First time a Pokémon uses Fire Blast, the move will be 100% accurate if no accuracy drops are in place (including abilities like Hustle), but the next time it’s used it will drop to 85%. It will still be at 85% accuracy even after using a different move instead. This will reset after switching out.
